Patty's comment about bacon wrapped prunes:
"The key to victory on any of those [cooking] shows comes down to one factor: bacon. Whichever contestant puts bacon in the dish invariably seems to win."--Michael Pollan
Apparently you can wrap bacon around just about anything, and they'll go fast.
Thank you, Patty, for this timeless observation. I couldn't agree more and this one's for you:

Now I would tend to vote for the bacon dish too :) When my daughter was putting the bacon in the pan she ges, "Now am I really ripping apart a real pig?" when I said yes she said, "wow-I never ripped apart a real pig with my bare hands beofre" Then she happily ate it :) The girl once looked at a live chicken & said, "Bok Bok, I need some chicken nuggets" :) Yuck :)
ReplyDeleteI am kinda inclined to think that bacon is the ultimate food!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a blog all for me, Honey! I swear that little blonde kissing that pig is one of your little blondes.
ReplyDeleteFor all bacon lovers, I've shared a recipe for some heavenly Praline Bacon on my blog:

Chocolate covered bacon, yuck I love both but not together!
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe some bacon wrapped bacon?
ReplyDeleteBacon should be its own food group.
Princess Nagger would eat bacon every day if I let her.

Eww!! Kissing that pig, what a riot! Me? I love bacon but still don't think I'd want to kiss a pig on the snout!
ReplyDeleteI am really missing the Chacon.
ReplyDeleteI like my bacon by itself. Well, maybe with eggs and biscuits or on a sandwich, and it can wrap my steak if it wants to.
ReplyDeleteBacon grease is my best perfume. Cheap and extremely effective.
ReplyDeleteAs a vegetarian I can only say Yeuk! But I do love that kiss between child and pig...
ReplyDeleteArghhhh! Chacon?? Oh my word.
ReplyDeleteI found you through Frau on West Family Adventures. She lives in Bremen, where I lived (well actually Bremerhaven) when I was a teenager. Though Bremen will always be special to me as I ran away to there with a 23 yr. old English rock n roller band guy! Yea, I failed to tell my parents.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I am a german born N.J. girl now! I look forward to your view of German culture!
Oh, and yes.... bacon can fix almost anything! It can even make someone who you KNOW is crabby in the morning wake up happier when they smell it lofting up the stairs.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and am loving it. Great sense of humor and important info ... like bacon wrapped prunes ... to boot. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteMy coworker just fell in love with you. Truly. He ADORES bacon.
ReplyDeleteI happen to love bacon and while it can do wonders for your basic chicken dish, I think I'll refrain from the chocolate covered version!
